Official: Windows Phone Store is the new name for the Marketplace

Microsoft first revealed what we considered a rebrand of the Windows Phone Marketplace back in early August, but the company is going official with its new naming today. Windows Phone Store is the new name for the Marketplace and the software maker has added some improvements along the way. Search functionality has been greatly improved and is now powered by Bing to supply the results. The Bing algorithm will help with similar apps and spelling mistake errors made during search.

Microsoft also upgraded the software list on Windows Phone Store. List of Top Free and Top Paid list has been renamed New + Rising and the Best Rated ranked based on software usage and ratings from users. Microsoft said the new name with the new design is just the "first step", and in the future will be a lot of changes and innovations. These changes will appear first in Australia and New Zealand and will then turn to other markets worldwide in the next week.
