Microsoft starts Office 2013 upgrade program set to launch on October 19th

As Microsoft ramps up for its next big Office release, the company is apparently getting ready to offer up a program to help cushion the blow for those who pick up the current version of the suite.

A program to upgrade to Office 2013 on 19/10 here, make sure people who buy this package in the period from late April to the time stated above will be upgraded. An information can not be guaranteed: this upgrade will most likely not completely free, but accompanied by a fee of "reasonable". We are not sure when the Office will be officially launched but according to the source of supply for ZDNET, it will be around February next year.

Microsoft announced details Office for Windows RT

Microsoft Office Group announced details of Office for Windows version RT. Microsoft has confirmed that Office for Windows RT will come along with the equipment run Windows RT and sale from 26-October. The final version will be released via an update from early November. Microsoft also revealed that the Office for Windows RT is optimized for touch, using fewer resources such as CPU, memory and battery. Office for Windows RT will include most of the features of Office 2013 for the PC.

Here are the features that won’t be part of Office for Windows RT:

Macros, add-ins, and features that rely on ActiveX controls or 3rdparty code such as the PowerPoint Slide Library ActiveX control and Flash Video Playback
Certain legacy features such as playing older media formats in PowerPoint (upgrade to modern formats and they will play) and editing equations written in Equation Editor 3.0, which was used in older versions of Office (viewing works fine)
Certain email sending features, since Windows RT does not support Outlook or other desktop mail applications (opening a mail app, such as the mail app that comes with Windows RT devices, and inserting your Office content works fine)
Creating a Data Model in Excel 2013 RT (PivotTables, QueryTables, Pivot Charts work fine)
Recording narrations in PowerPoint 2013 RT
Searching embedded audio/video files, recording audio/video notes, and importing from an attached scanner with OneNote 2013 RT (inserting audio/video notes or scanned images from another program works fine)

Every Microsoft employee will get free Windows Phone 8

Microsoft held its annual company meeting this week with than 30k employees attended. CEO Steve Ballmer announced that all Microsoft employees will receive the full set of the following devices:

A Windows Phone 8.
Windows tablet RT Surface.
A new desktop or laptop running Windows 8.

This action not only encourage employee morale, but also a great marketing idea.

Microsoft's new patent: "Whack Your Phone to Shut it Up"

Are you annoyed because of busy phone rang repeatedly? Rest assured, there were brand new patent from Microsoft: "Whack Your Phone to Shut it Up". This patent allows you to switch phone ringtone to "silent" by beating your phone. This method can be very handy if you are to your phone in a pocket or purse, for example. However, it is best not to use it when your mood is not good if no real danger will be very unpredictable ...
